Some people are finding that ballet is a great way to Get Healthy 4 Life. Ballet dancers said it requires grace, strength and excellent conditioning. But, through a new workout called Balletone, it can be beneficial to almost anybody. Balletone uses the strength and conditioning of ballet training without all the dancing.
"To be honest, the first time I watched one of the classes, I thought it looked very easy. Then I brought myself in to take the class and within 10 minutes my legs were fatiguing and wobbling and stuff," said class instructor Rebecca Elliott. "So, I fell in love with it immediately. It was just a completely different way of training for me."
Claudine Varesi has been taking the class two years and said it's a phenomenal core workout.
"It does require a lot of balance. And it requires a lot of strength from my center, from my core. So, it develops my back and my abdominal muscles, my quads and my glutes, so I'm strong in my stand," said Varesi.
Elliott said Balletone is a great workout for athletes. She said she takes out some of what she calls the "chi chi" when she works with men.
"I think what makes Balletone different is your muscles are engaged the entire time throughout the exercise. And the idea is to go ahead and get stronger every time and get more balance, more poised every time," Elliot said.
